Finding the Risk Institute
The Institute for Risk and Uncertainty, commonly called the Risk Institute, is located in the Chadwick Building at the end of Peach Street in the heart of the University of Liverpool campus. Enter the Chadwick Building via the south entrance; other building entrances cannot access the Risk Institute. (This entrance faces the scaffolding currently around the Oliver Lodge physics building.) Once inside the automatic sliding doors you will see the Muspratt Lecture Theatre in front of you. Turn left and enter the wooden door.
Visiting the University by Road
From the M62: at the end of the motorway continue straight ahead onto Edge Lane (A5080 then A5047) and follow signs for Liverpool City Centre and the University.

Visiting the University by Taxi
There are several local taxi companies, such as Alpha (telephone: +44 151 722 8888), Excel (telephone: +44 151 728 8888) and Delta (telephone: +44 151 922 7373). Uber and hackney carriage (known as black cab) are also available in Liverpool. Ask the driver to take you to Oxford Street at Abercromby Square. Walk between the Sports & Fitness Centre and the Architecture buildings, and turn right onto a brick pathway to the Chadwick Building (see map above).
Visiting the University by Rail
If you are travelling from within the United Kingdom, you may want to consider taking the train. We recommend the following website: https://www.thetrainline.com to check for train schedules and tickets. Most routes to Liverpool arrive at Liverpool Lime Street Station or at Liverpool Central Station. Both stations are 5 to 8 minutes from the Risk Institute by a taxi costing about £5. You could also walk from either Lime Street or Central station to the Risk Institute in about 25 minutes, but note that it is up hill most of the way. Do not use Liverpool South Parkway, as it is quite far from the Risk Institute.
Use the Merseyrail website or National Rail Enquries to plan your journey.

Visiting the Institute by Coach (Bus)
The main company is National Express. Check www.nationalexpress.com for schedules and tickets. The buses from the airports stop at the Liverpool One bus station, which is a short £5 taxi ride or a 20-minute walk up the hill to the Risk Institute (see By Taxi above). There are several bus routes up the hill as well, but they will take about a half an hour and involve changing buses or additional walking..
