EPSRC & ESRC Centre for Doctoral Training - Stakeholder Day 2017.

The Centre for Doctoral Training and Institute for Risk and Uncertainty is delighted to announce its third Stakeholder Workshop with Industry on "Meeting Industrial Needs". The main purposes of the workshop is to ensure that Risk CDT students are fully aware of the needs of our industrial partners and understand the importance of producing impactful research. It is intended that the workshop will cover a wide range of disciplines, reflecting the cross-faculty multidisciplinary activities of the Risk Institute. A representative from the funding body EPSRC will be also present.

A number of our industrial partners have been invited to participate. They will each deliver a short presentation, including the description of a problem related to Risk and Uncertainty. In the afternoon the workshop will break into discussion groups to consider (a) the essential elements of each problem, (b) appropriate research strategies, and (c) the potential benefits of a CDT research programme. The industrial partner will outline the current state of practice and its perceived limitations.

The workshop provides an excellent opportunity, especially for early career researchers, to meet withindustrial colleagues. There will also be a period when the Risk Theme Leaders outline opportunities and developments in their different fields of activity. The meeting will re-convene towards the end of the afternoon to summarise the achievements made.
